TITLE:  Staff Accountant

DEPARTMENT:  Finance & Administration

GENERAL PURPOSE:  Responsible for GL data input, daily and weekly management reports, treasury functions, accounts payable duties, and other financial report preparation.  This position reports to the Accounting Manager.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform accounts payable duties to include: invoice review and entry, GL coding, invoice approval coordination, vendor maintenance and weekly check runs
  • Prepare monthly job cost reports, including budget to actual reports and variances
  • Assist with treasury functions to include:deposits, daily cash monitoring, weekly check-run and cash reports
  • Assist with the maintenance and analysis of the GL, gathering data for input, and auditing the GL for errors
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual close process
  • Prepare and record journal entries (i.e., accruals, amortizations, and reclassifications)
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with preparation of audit schedules
  • Review bi-weekly payroll and provide assistance with employee benefits
  • Prepare annual 1099s
  • Perform administrative duties to include answering phones, scanning/filing, and other misc. tasks as needed
  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance and adherence to internal controls
  • Assist with other projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity of accounting principles and GL systems
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
  • Must have at least intermediate excel skills (pivot tables, v-look-ups, experience w/macros a plus)
  • Minimum of 3 years related accounting experience
  • MUST have a great attitude, lots of energy and a desire to learn

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • Great Plains experience
  • Prior AP and payroll experience

     

    PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

  • 0-5% travel required
